Mtre Mireille Alary, notary, LL.L., D.D.N., earned a degree in notarial law with summa cum laude honours from the University of Ottawa in 1990. After starting her career with a regional study, she decided to team up with a colleague in February of 1993. She eventually took over the records of Mtre Louise Bélanger, then president of the Chambre des notaires du Québec. She joined Gagné, Isabelle, Patry, Laflamme & Associés in May 2001 as partner.

 

She completed her general practice of real estate law by developing a specialization in agricultural law. In recent years, she has shown interest in municipal law and in the conservation of our natural resources, through many mandates obtained from a conservation organization active in the region.

 

Since August 1997, she has been splitting her time between the Gatineau office (Hull sector) and the satellite office of Shawville in the Pontiac region, which addresses the legal needs of this rural region that is rich in leisure and agricultural properties. Since 2016, she has also been in charge of the satellite office of the Aylmer sector.

 

Mother of four, she is actively involved in her family’s activities, serves as chairman of the Pontiac Chamber of Commerce, as vice-president of the Association des professionnels, industriels et commerçants d’Aylmer (APICA) and is a member of several committees, including the agricultural law committee of the PME INTER Notaires network.

Mtre Jade Berthel-Peddle, notary, LL.L., LL.M., obtained her civil law degree from the University of Ottawa in 2013 and practised as a family law lawyer with a firm of the region for three years. She then decided to redirect her career path in the notarial field and obtained a master’s degree in notarial law from the Université de Sherbrooke in 2018, with honours. Mtre Jade Berthel-Peddle joined Gagné Isabelle Patry Laflamme & Associés as a notary in April 2019.

 

Mtre Berthel-Peddle practises within the real estate and agricultural law team and can also advise you adequately for the preparation of your will and protection mandate.

Mtre Chloé Bérubé obtained her degree in civil law (LL.L.) from the University of Ottawa in 2010. She then went on to achieve a Master of Laws, with a concentration in notarial law (LL.M.), which she finished in 2011 at the same University. Mtre Bérubé started working for Gagné, Isabelle, Patry, Laflamme & Associés as a student in March 2007. She then completed her internship and became one of the firms’ notaries.

 

This dedicated notary has oriented her practice in the field of business law. She will advise you on all transactions related to your business. Mtre Christian Crites is a notary and legal counsel in dispute prevention and resolution. He is also an accredited mediator in civil and commercial matters. Mtre Crites completed his degree in civil law at the University of Ottawa in 2005. He obtained his master’s degree in notarial law from the Université de Montréal in 2007 and was sworn in by the Chambre des notaires du Québec in 2008. Mtre Crites is also in the process of completing a master’s degree in Conflict Studies at Saint Paul University in Ottawa.

 

Mtre Crites works exclusively in the field of dispute prevention and resolution (DPR). His expertise allows him to assist his clients with negotiation, conciliation, mediation and arbitration mandates. He is also an expert in the conceptualization and implementation of conflict management systems that he adapts to the needs of different organizations and industries.

Mtre Emily Di Paolo, notary, LL.B., D.D.N., obtained her bachelor’s degree in civil law (2013) and her degree in notarial law (2014) from the Université de Montréal, after completing a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Concordia University. Mtre Di Paolo joined Gagné Isabelle Patry Laflamme & Associés in January 2015 after completing her internship in a Montréal firm.

 

Mtre Di Paolo has developed an expertise in Dispute Prevention and Resolution (DPR). This new area of practice was incorporated into our firm on July 1st, 2016, making PME INTER Notaires Gatineau the first and only notary firm in Québec to offer this type of expertise.

Mtre Jean-François Gagné practices almost exclusively in real estate law mainly for the residential, rental and commercial sectors. He also prepares wills, protection mandates and spousal or co-ownership agreements. His key quality is his capacity to make plain legal concepts to his clients.

 

He has been involved with rental property owners for several years and is therefore very aware of the particular needs of that type of investor. He additionally teaches real estate law to real estate agents in the Outaouais region.

Mtre Gilles Laflamme, notary, LL.L., D.D.N., graduated in notarial law from the University of Ottawa in 1978. This experienced notary is a leader in the area of rural property, such as cottages, as well as in co-ownership law and is often involved in the major real estate development projects of the region.

 

Immediately expressing a keen interest in co-ownership law when he joined the firm, Mtre Laflamme completed a specialized program in co-ownership law at the Université de Montréal in 1980. He also taught this subject at the University of Ottawa and gave a presentation to his colleagues during a professional development course held by the Chambre des notaires du Québec. Mtre Michèle Lafontaine, LL.L., D.D.N., LL.M., obtained her degree in notarial law from the University of Ottawa in 1994. She then obtained a master’s degree in civil law, with a specialization in sales under judicial order in 1998. She joined the firm in 1994 to develop business law. In that capacity, she provides legal services to a significant number of businesses of the Outaouais region. She also acts as legal counsel for commercial financing and transactions involving tax consequences, such as estate freezes, crystallizations or business transfers.

 

As Mtre Lafontaine has also been a teacher at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law in business law and cyberspace law, she aspires to better understand the realities and problems of her business clients. Mtre Véronique Laliberté, notary, obtained a degree in civil law (LL.L.) and a master’s degree in notarial law (LL.M.) from the University of Ottawa in 2013 and 2014. She was sworn in by the Chambre des notaires du Québec in March 2015 and began her practice at the same time in the Outaouais region. Her curiosity led her to study the Chinese legal system at the China University of Political Science and Law as well as the Innu legal system in the Uashat Reserve in Sept-Îles. Prior to her legal career, she was a radio host for stations of the Outaouais, Lower Laurentians and northern Ontario regions.

Stéphanie Mercier graduated from the Université de Montréal in 2006 with a degree in notarial law, after graduating from the University of Ottawa in 2005 where she obtained her civil law degree. This notary has a strong interest in law of persons, estate law as well as real estate law. These interests gradually developed over the six years during which she worked as a student for Gagné Isabelle Patry Laflamme & Associés.

 

Since she became a notary, Mtre Mercier has assisted the senior notaries of the firm in complex cases and is now specializing in estate law and law of persons.

 

She is chairman of the board of directors of the Jardins du Souvenir funeral home. She was also chairman for the law of persons committee of the PME INTER Notaires network.

Mtre Joëlle Mouaikel, notary, obtained her law degree (2013) and her master’s degree in notarial law (2015) from the University of Ottawa. After working for 3 and a half years with the business law team as a student and intern, she joined the real estate law team in January 2017.

 

Mtre Mouaikel is a dedicated notary who puts her knowledge of business law and real estate law at the service of her clients. She also drafts wills and protection mandates and is an expert of the procedures required by the tax authorities following the sale of taxable Canadian property by a non-resident.

Mtre Mario Patry, notary, B.A., LL.L., D.D.N., graduated in notarial law from the University of Ottawa in 1977. Specialized in real estate and business law, this experienced notary provides services to a mixed clientele of individuals and entrepreneurs.

 

For many years, Mtre Patry has been very involved in the integration of new notaries within the firm and was also a coveted mentor for about ten years. He has served on the board of directors of the Caisse Desjardins de Hull for more than 23 years and has held senior positions within the Desjardins Group. He was chairman of the Association des professionnels en droit immobilier et de passage du Québec for more than 10 years.

 

He now sits on the board of directors of the Fondation du Cégep de l’Outaouais, of which he was chairman for 4 years and remains active in the regional economic affairs network, namely as governor of the CCIO. The Gatineau Chamber of Commerce elected him Personality of the Year in 2013.

 

Always keen to be at the forefront of the profession, he is very active within the firm to ensure the development of a new field of practice unique in Québec: Dispute Prevention and Resolution. To this end, he has followed courses in mediation and is a negotiator well appreciated by his clients.

Mtre Isabelle Pelletier, notary, B.A.A., LL.L., D.D.N., earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration before completing her licence in civil law at the University of Ottawa in 2000. In 2001, she obtained her diploma in notarial law from the Université de Montréal. She became a member of la Chambre des notaires du Québec in February 2002. She has since been practicing, in collaboration with the notaries of Gagné Isabelle Patry Laflamme & Associés, in estate law and law of persons (protective supervision).

 

She became a partner of the firm in 2008. Highly involved in the community, she sat on the board of directors of the Société d’Alzheimer de l’Outaouais. She was vice-president of the Coopérative funéraire de l’Outaouais and the chairman of the Réseau des femmes d’affaires et professionnelles de l’Outaouais (RÉFAP). She was also the chairman of the law of persons committee for PME INTER Notaires, of which Gagné, Isabelle, Patry, Laflamme & Associés is a member.

Mtre Jean-François Venne-Pronovost obtained a degree in industrial relations in 2004, a law degree in 2006 and a master’s degree in notarial law in 2008. Throughout his school career, he won several awards and distinctions. Upon completion of his studies, he joined Gagné Isabelle Patry Laflamme & Associés to complete his internship and to develop a specialization in co-ownership law.

 

Mtre Pronovost works closely with the real estate team of the firm. He stands out in non-traditional and innovative projects.
